Bullpen Ace EL Premier Pitcher in August
Monday, September 1st , 2059
Chris Berg was ecstatic to win August's Eastern League Pitcher of the Month honors today. The 39-year-old Harrisburg pitcher thanked fans, his coaches and the voters for the honor -- despite the fact that he deserved much of the credit himself.
Berg's star burned bright last month as he made no relief appearances, notching no saves and 27 strikeouts in 36.2 innings. He held opposing hitters to a .229 average to put up his 4-0 mark and 1.72 ERA.
This year, Berg has no saves, totaled 44.1 innings, allowed 36 base hits and fashioned a 1.42 ERA while racking up 30 strikeouts and a record of 4 wins and no losses.
