Bates Batters Colorado for 5 Hits Tuesday, August 1st , 2051 Peter Bates really did a number on the Colorado Rockies -- and the Colorado did one right back on Bates's Tigers, taking the Coors Field contest 11-9. Bates delivered a huge 5-for-5 performance for Detroit, but did not deliver the victory. "I felt real good in the batter's box today," the 26-year-old right fielder said after putting up a game for the ages. "I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done." Peter Bates hit an RBI triple in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.
