The Colorado Rockies met little resistance from the Kansas City Royals, beating them, 11-2, at Coors Field. Mitch Carson led the way. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for Colorado. The winning pitcher was Ross Allen. He's now 7-5. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits for the Rockies. At 60-44, the Rockies are currently second in the American League Alvarado Division.

The Royals had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Rockies going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the slick-fielding center fielder Bradford Strong came to the plate. Strong hit a run-scoring triple on a 2-1 fastball from Kansas City hurler Jared Iglesias. It was Strong's 3rd triple of the year.

Kansas City manager Steven Fahey called the blowout loss "nothing to write home about."
