The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Hagerstown Suns, 14-0, in part because of catcher Danny Elzie. Elzie went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5 for the Grasshoppers. Jason Long was the winner. He's now 1-2. The loser was J.B. Whitson. With the win, the Grasshoppers hiked their record to 37-23.

With Greensboro leading 9-0 in the top of the sixth, Elzie came up to bat against Hagerstown pitcher Vincente Alers. Elzie hit a changeup to left for a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Grasshoppers on top, 12-0.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Hagerstown manager Josh McMichael. "We got the snot knocked out of us."
