The Greensboro Grasshoppers beat the Rome Braves, 4-1. Greensboro pitcher and Benicia, California, native Gabriel Briseno led the way. Briseno, the winner, moves to 2-4. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks. The save went to Szak Giese, number 13 for him.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Evan Fletcher? The 22-year old second baseman Fletcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Greensboro up, 2-0. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Fletcher said in reaction to the win.
