Patriots Topple Fisher Cats, 8-6, as Jones Shines
The first-place Somerset Patriots picked up another win.

The performance of Vernon Jones proved critical in helping Somerset beat New Hampshire, 8-6. The Patriots first baseman slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Somerset now sits at 71-36, while New Hampshire falls to 68-39.

Caetano Florez had a big bases-clearing double for the Patriots in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Somerset leading 4-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Von Salzillo and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 27th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Patriots ahead, 7-1.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Florez said.
