Sea Dogs Beat Frigates, 8-1
|
Portland third baseman Andrew Tweedy contributed significantly to his team's 8-1 win over the Halifax Frigates. Tweedy went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Sea Dogs. Picking up the save was Jaxon Patterson, his 2nd. Their 31-57 record puts the Sea Dogs 8th in the Eastern League North Division.
Michael Sereda had a big 2-run double for the Sea Dogs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Portland trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Mattie Shelby, who is tied for 2nd in the EL in complete games with 1, and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sea Dogs ahead, 2-1.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Halifax skipper Trajano De Leon. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
