Crabs Squeeze By Akron, 2-1
|
The Providence Crabs, despite a fine performance by Akron pitcher Dave Barrett, grabbed a 2-1 win at Canal Park. Barrett allowed no runs over 6.1 innings. Yoandy Jiménez was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. With the win over Akron, the Crabs improved to 14-36.
Luc Tolley came through with a big-time hit for Providence. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We did just enough to win," Tolley said.
