Baby Cakes Upend Chihuahuas, 8-1
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the New Orleans Baby Cakes and El Paso Chihuahuas.

The New Orleans Baby Cakes beat the El Paso Chihuahuas, 8-1, at Southwest University park. Sam Waddle went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The 28-year old second baseman was a menace to El Paso all day. The winning pitcher was 21-year old left-handed pitcher Cesar Mendoza. He tossed 92 pitches over 7.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits.

With New Orleans leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Waddle batted against El Paso pitcher William Pysher. Waddle hit a fastball to left for a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Baby Cakes on top, 3-0.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Waddle, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."

The Baby Cakes now have a record of 21-39.
