Slumping River Cats Lose Again, 5-3
|
The Nashville Sounds used the hitting of designated hitter Sudan Johnson to subdue the Sacramento River Cats, 5-3. For the game, Johnson was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Joseph Ferreyra earned the win for Nashville. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 9. With the win, he raised his record to 5-3. Sebastian Menna nailed down the save.
With Nashville trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Johnson hit a slider from Emmett Lucas for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Sounds ahead, 2-1.
"Losing feels worse," said Sacramento manager Jake Braithwaite, "than winning feels good."
Sacramento, at 21-25, has lost 6 straight.
