Mayes Surgical in Boston Win
|
Disney Stadium featured a tense pitchers' duel.
Boston took on California in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Ralph Mayes, in particular, was fantastic. The Boston right-hander helped his team snag the win, 1-0. Getting the save was Emo Youngs, his 18th.
Mayes, the winning pitcher, raised his record to 7-13. In 8 innings of work, Mayes gave up no runs on 3 hits, while racking up 7 Ks. He kept the Angels punchless, offensively.
"When Ralph executes, it really doesn't matter what the other lineup is," said Boston field general Daniel Knepper.
The win makes Boston 50-91.
