Victors Again, Miramar Win Streak at 9
|
Lee Kalu could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Pompano Beach Aqua Sox lost, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Miramar Sun Dogs at Roger Dean Stadium. Gabriel Ferreira claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Matt Pflanz earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.
The Sun Dogs got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Natalio Ortega. For the game, Ortega was 1 for 1 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Miramar a 2-0 lead.
"Pedal to the metal" is how Miramar manager Mike Jefferson described his team's approach.
The Sun Dogs, now 9-1, have stormed out of the gates.
