Redbirds Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire

Members of the Memphis Redbirds couldn't hold back their emotions after beating the Oklahoma City Dodgers in the final game of the Round 1.
"It's just been such a roller coaster," said Redbirds closer Jimmy Wagner after the club's 4-2 win. "You play all season and then everything comes down to this one game. We know how easily we could have been on the other side of it."
The other side was a subdued Dodgers clubhouse, where players packed up their belongings and headed home for the year, with a somber mood in the air.
For the series, Wagner was named MVP, as he had a 0.00 ERA over 6 innings pitched. He added 5 strikeouts and picked up 1 win.
The Memphis Redbirds will play against the Salt Lake Bees in the next round. Salt Lake won their series against the Reno Aces 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Salt Lake Wins Round 1

By a score of 5-2, the Salt Lake Bees have sealed a victory in the Round 1 over the Reno Aces.
"We knew we would be in for a tough series and that's what we got," said third baseman Danny Ortiz of the Bees, who was named the series MVP. "The Aces knew how to battle and gave us a good test."
The next test for Salt Lake will come in the Round 2, after winning this series 3-1.
The Salt Lake Bees don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Oklahoma City Dodgers - Memphis Redbirds series. Oklahoma City leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
