AL Cy Young Award Goes to Javier

The Houston Astros have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Cristian Javier, this year's American League Cy Young Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Javier compiled a 14-10 record in 32 starts, tallied 229 strikeouts in 178.2 innings and recorded a 2.97 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .201 batting average against him.

He received 25 first place votes out of a possible 30. Luis Castillo of the Seattle Mariners finished second in voting, while Tyler Glasnow of the Boston Red Sox finished third.
