The Seattle Mariners locked up a win at T-Mobile Park, knocking off the Chicago Cubs, 4-1. On the mound for Seattle was right-hander Luis Castillo. He played a major role in the triumph. The winner was Castillo. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Justin Steele. Logan Gilbert picked up the save, his 3rd.

Marcelo Mayer dealt the Cubs a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Seattle leading 1-0, Mayer hit a 2-1 curveball for a 2-run single.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Mayer.

The win gives Seattle a record of 11-10.
