Nationals Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
The 2025 season began for the Los Angeles Angels with a loss to the Washington Nationals at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The final score was 5-2. Washington right fielder James Wood had a fine performance. Picking up the save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Tyler Schoff.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Wood hit a 2-run home run off Shohei Ohtani. It propelled the Nationals into the lead, 2-0.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Wood. "But I like how we're playing right now."
