The Boston Red Sox knocked off the New York Yankees, 5-3, in American League action at Yankee Stadium. Boston pitcher and Snellville, Georgia, native Garrett Whitlock had an outstanding performance. Shane Baz nailed down his 1st save. Their 50-75 record puts the Red Sox last in the American League East Division.

The Red Sox got a big at-bat from left fielder Amari Mozee. For the game, Mozee was 1 for 4 with a double. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Boston a 1-0 lead.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Red Sox manager Chad Bell. "This one was nice to get."
