The Los Angeles Angels picked up a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, knocking off the Chicago Cubs, 6-2. On the mound for Los Angeles was left-hander Tyler Anderson. He played a key role in the triumph. In 6.2 innings, Anderson surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. The win elevated the Angels to 64-48.
Tim Anderson had a big 3-run home run for the Angels in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Los Angeles leading 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from Aaron Ashby, who is tied for 2nd in the NL with a 11.7 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Angels on top, 6-2.
"I'm happy we won," said Anderson. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
