After a 5-hit effort to lead Dubrovnik's 7-5 victory over the Babylon Beasts, third baseman Steve Taylor told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the WBL Rookie League-level is really something special."
The 19-year-old player earned his accolades today at Babylon Grounds with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Beasts.
"His swing is getting there," said Destroyers skipper D.J. Grbic, who spoke glowingly of Taylor after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Steve did that to perfection today."
Steve Taylor hit a two-run home run off Jim Wangler in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 12th and flied out in the 15th.
Thus far this year Taylor is hitting .364 with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
