Black Sox Need Extra Frames to Get Past Black Eagles
|
Behind a fine performance from Sahlu Kipkoech, the South Africa Black Sox knocked off the Berlin Black Eagles in 11 innings, 4-2. Kipkoech went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Black Sox. Sanne Hooheno picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Hidetoshi Oba suffered the loss. The Eastern League Africa-leading Black Sox have a record of 31-16.
The decisive blow was delivered by Lazarz Antosiewicz in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Hidetoshi Oba to win the game for South Africa. The home crowd went nuts.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Berlin manager Dennis Penn.
