Elephants Take 10-1 Pounding
|
The 2117 season is getting uglier for Bangkok.
The New Zealand Seals pinned a convincing loss on the Bangkok Elephants, 10-1, at The Shire. Anatole Hagiorgiu was a main factor in the win. He went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for New Zealand. The winning pitcher was Ramon Lauriano. His record now stands at 2-2. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits for the Seals.
Luke Palmer, who is tied for 4th in the EL with a .429 on-base percentage, chipped in a 3-run home run for New Zealand in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"We can't expect to win," said Bangkok manager Topan Kartodirdjo, "with that kind of performance."
The Seals go to 18-18, putting them 4th in the Eastern League Oceania.
