Scimitars Roll to 8-3 Win Over Stars
The Istanbul Scimitars picked up a win at Constantinople Coliseum, taking down the Tehran Stars, 8-3. Starting pitcher Janakiraman Dibyendu was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Dibyendu, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. Istanbul sits at 2-2 in the early going.

Hoang Phong had a big 2-run home run for the Scimitars in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Istanbul leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher El-Shamy Ghaniy and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scimitars ahead, 5-2.
