Ayala Lifts Oryx to 7-4 Triumph
|
Oryx right fielder Jose Ayala put his stamp on his team's 7-4 win over the Istanbul Scimitars. Ayala went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Riyadh in the contest. Reliever Farri Tahir picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Othieno Vader, who led the EL in saves with 46 in 2105, took the loss. Riyadh now has a record of 96-61 with the win.
Ayala had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-1 fastball from Othieno Vader, he banged a grand slam home run to center, giving the Oryx a 6-4 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Ayala.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Ayala.
