Volcanoes Earn 4-3 Win Versus Scimitars
|
Starting pitcher Russell Chadwick pitched well enough to help the Virunga Volcanoes beat the Istanbul Scimitars, 4-3. Chadwick, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Virunga's record now stands at 77-75, placing them 4th in the Eastern League Africa.
Virunga used the timely hitting of Nenad Chacic to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Volcanoes on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Chadwick.
