With 5-2 Win, Scimitars Go to 100-46
|
Istanbul Scimitars starter Rakin bin Naji turned in a top-notch performance against the Cairo Pharaohs at Constantinople Coliseum. The result was a win for the Scimitars, 5-2. bin Naji, the winner, moves to 17-4. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 2 walks. Henri Dufour earned the save for Istanbul, his 31st of the year.
The Scimitars got a big at-bat from catcher Ishaq bin Husain. For the game, bin Husain went 2 for 2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 23rd double of the season gave Istanbul a 2-1 lead.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said bin Husain.
The first-place Scimitars have won 4 in a row.
