At Volcano Ballpark, the Virunga Volcanoes and Delhi Destroyers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Delhi Destroyers defeated the Virunga Volcanoes, 9-7, in part because of first baseman Juma Abasi. Abasi went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Destroyers. The winner was Dudu Parhon, who threw 111 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits.

Ken Byford, who is a two-time Golden Glove winner, had an important at-bat. With one out in the top of the second, he hit a 2-run double. His 18th double of the season put Delhi on top, 4-0.

Abasi said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.

Delhi is last in the Eastern League Middle East with a record of 53-88.
