Elephants Clip Scimitars, 7-6
|
In the 7-6 Bangkok win over Istanbul, the impact of Jesus Cortes was substantial. Cortes, who is tied for 9th in the EL in home runs with 4, was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Chi-Cuong Trinh picked up the save, his 1st. The Scimitars, now 2-10, continue their poor start.
Bangkok used a clutch hit from Jadon Rogers to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Elephants ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Bangkok field general Prabhu Hattangady.
