Suns Top Moscow, 2-1
|
Santiago Field hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
Moscow got a valiant performance from pitcher Mitchell Murphy, but it wasn't enough to beat the Santiago Suns. Santiago won the game, 2-1. Murphy threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Santiago starter Fadeyka Poplevin was credited with the win after throwing 112 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 2-0.
Guonçalo Couto was the walk-off hero for Santiago. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Suns right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Couto. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
The win gives Santiago a record of 6-7.
