Sahere Excels, But Nkali Win
The Nigeria Nkali overcame a pretty good performance by Tokyo second baseman Nour Sahere, beating the Choho, 10-9, at New Koshien Stadium. Sahere was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Julien Roussel snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-5 on the season. Gil Gonzales suffered the loss. Brenden Smith notched his 1st save in 1 chances.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Abalendu Tarpa came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Tokyo pitcher Gil Gonzales, he hit a first pitch curveball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Nigeria on top, 10-8.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Tarpa.

The win gives Nigeria a season record of 64-54.
