The 4-hit performance of Momsilo Stevic, who finished 2nd in the EL in slugging percentage with .570 last year, helped the Nigeria Nkali beat the Istanbul Scimitars, 10-1. The third-place Scimitars now sit at 60-52.
Nigeria took the lead, 5-1, on Rafael Leon Jr.'s 11th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Istanbul pitcher Gaya Missaoui in the bottom of the seventh.
Nigeria manager Dillon Lawson commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
