Vikings Win Thriller, 5-4
|
The Stockholm Vikings weathered an outstanding game by Moscow center fielder Chaim Ben-Haim to topple the Kosmonauts, 5-4. Ben-Haim went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Setia Maryadi. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 3-0. The Vikings now have a record of 61-48 with the win over Moscow.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 4-4, designated hitter Katsura Tamura won it for Stockholm. With the bases loaded, Tamura hit a full count fastball from Amazuz Iregi for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 5-4 win.
"Big team win," Tamura said later.
