Nadif Humud, who is tied for 5th in the EL in strikeouts with 136, had a strong outing for the Istanbul Scimitars against the Nigeria Nkali at Lagos Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 2-1 win. Humud got the win, improving to 12-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Henri Dufour got the save, his 30th in 37 chances.
Muti Majid had a direct impact on the outcome. Majid contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Istanbul up, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Scimitars manager Akram Yusuf, "I like our chances."
The Eastern League Middle East-leading Scimitars have a record of 66-31.
