Versteeg Hits 3 home runs in Kosmonauts Win
|
Kosmonauts second baseman Adelino Versteeg left his mark on his team's 9-4 win over the Rome Gladiators. Versteeg, who is on pace to hit 44 home runs this season, slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored three times for Moscow in the contest. The winning pitcher was 27-year old left-handed pitcher Fikrce Adisa. He tossed 106 pitches over 7.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits. The first-place Kosmonauts have won 5 straight games.
With Moscow leading 5-3 in the top of the sixth, Versteeg hit a fastball from Gurvan van Egmond for a grand slam home run. It was his 26th home run of the season and put the Kosmonauts ahead, 9-3.
"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Versteeg.
