Almost There: Toronto On Cusp of WC Triumph After 6-5 Win
|
Stockholm first baseman Duri Kondwani pounded Toronto Beavers pitchers at Beethoven Ballpark, but it was not enough to keep the Vikings from falling, 6-5 in Game 4 of the Wildcard Series. Kondwani went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, though he couldn't keep the Vikings from slipping to a 3-1 deficit in the best-of-7 series.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Alex Martinez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Beavers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Martinez.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Beethoven Ballpark in Stockholm.
