Kangaroos Rally Late to Clip Cairo
|
Melbourne Kangaroos starter Irgen Andwele pitched a strong game against the Cairo Pharaohs at Beresford Park, leading the Kangaroos to victory, 5-4. Melbourne reliever Mike Ayala snagged the win, upping his record to 6-3. Dong-jin Kang shouldered the loss. The win puts the Kangaroos at 39-34, while the Pharaohs drop to 34-39.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Melbourne. That's when 24-year old shortstop Zak Craig hit a run-scoring double off Dong-jin Kang to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Craig told the Melbourne Today.
