The Reykjavik Narwhals withstood a fine game by South Africa left fielder Tarik Kimweri at Laugardalur Leikvangur, to upend the Black Sox, 8-6. Kimweri was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Reykjavik pitcher Badar Umar Khel got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Marquos Gromicho got the loss. Rhodes Rorris, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

Carl Mullan, who is tied for 2nd in the WL in runs scored with 51, took South Africa hurler Marquos Gromicho deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run home run put the Narwhals on top, 7-5. In all, Mullan had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Reykjavik manager Angelo Garza.

The second-place Narwhals improved to 41-28.
