In a low-scoring tilt between the Tehran Stars and the Mexico City Muertos, 33-year old left-handed pitcher Hadad Rayhan was the difference-maker. The Tehran left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Ilias Normand was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 9 save opportunities. The Muertos, now 21-45, have lost 5 in a row.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Derby Palmer came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Mexico City pitcher Ilija Udovicki, he hit a 0-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Tehran on top, 2-1.

"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Stars manager Jordan Turcios.
