Patriots Upend Fusion, 4-2
|
The Hong Kong Patriots got a good effort from starter Min-hyuk Kim in defeating the Singapore Fusion at Singapore Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Kim, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Benito Hernandez finished the game for Hong Kong and earned his 17th save.
Manuel Leal, who finished 5th in the EL in wins above replacement with 5.8 last year, aided the Hong Kong cause with a 2-run double in the top of the third. For the game, the center fielder went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
After the game, Hong Kong manager Omar Argueta applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
With the victory, the Patriots record now stands at 37-26.
