Sky Horses Rebuff Patriots, 5-3
|
Pyongyang picked up a win at Pyongyang Park, bumping off the Hong Kong Patriots, 5-3. Pitcher Abdul-Wahhab Wa'il was a major reason the Sky Horses emerged victorious. Wa'il got the win, improving to 9-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Picking up his 2nd save was 32-year old right-handed pitcher Adrir Gatete.
Had Khusila Sompalli not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Sompalli hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Sky Horses.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Wa'il.
The second-place Sky Horses have won 4 consecutive games.
