Late Rally Leads to 4-2 Suns Triumph
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Santiago Suns got the win.
Santiago turned a good effort from starter Fadeyka Poplevin into a win over the Rome Gladiators at Santiago Field. The final score was 4-2. The winner was Poplevin. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Brahim Mwai. Mezwar Imarika was credited with the save for Santiago, his 9th of the season.
Azhar bin Walid, who is on pace to hit 43 home runs this season, chipped in a 2-run home run for Santiago in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the left fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Fadeyka was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Santiago manager Omar Torres.
The win has Santiago at 20-33.
