St. Lucie Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game
Wednesday, October 3rd , 2029
The fans in St. Lucie are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Daytona.
The St. Lucie Mets finished off the Daytona Tortugas 8-5 in the deciding game of the Round 1 played at Clover Park.
They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Round 2.
For his standout play, St. Lucie second baseman Yensi Rivas was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .538, drove in 7 runs and scored 4 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Rivas and that doomed us," said Tortugas manager Chris Booker. "Hats off to St. Lucie, though. That was a great series."
The St. Lucie Mets will play against the Palm Beach Cardinals in the next round. Palm Beach won their series against the Dunedin Blue Jays 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
