Eastern League Top Player Is Zapata

At the age of 24, Wesley Zapata of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2028 was good enough to win the shortstop the Eastern League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .245 batting average this year, as well as a .317 on-base percentage. He played 128 games and racked up 124 hits, 19 doubles, no triples, 39 home runs, 93 RBIs and 69 runs scored.
He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 12. Christian Mitchelle of the Reading Fightin Phils finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Zach MacDonald of the Erie SeaWolves finished third.
