Gazelles Halt Souza Hit Streak Wednesday, June 18th , 2070 It just wasn't Carl Souza's day. The El Cerrito in Riverside County Pirates grabbed the 4-2 win over the Morganville Gazelles, but the Gazelles mound staff did what nobody else could -- they stopped the 27-game hitting streak of Pirates third baseman Carl Souza. "We might have focused a bit too much on stopping Souza," Morganville manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Pirates have other hitters and they did their job today." A look at his current stats shows Souza with a .349 average, 7 home runs, 30 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has played in 39 games. |
