Ávila Batters Lake Erie for 5 Hits Sunday, May 12th , 2069 There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget. Manny Ávila of the Upcountry Degens had one such moment at Medusas Ballpark, when he went 5 for 6 at the plate. His hitting heroics weren't enough to pull out the victory, however, and Upcountry succumbed to defeat, 3-2, to the Lake Erie Walleye. "This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time," the 22-year-old second baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "It would have been very special if we had won the game." Manny Ávila flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jason Price in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th, singled in the 10th, singled in the 12th and singled in the 14th.
