Mehdi Osei of the Muskingum River Otters was on top of his game.

The 22-year-old tantalized the Oregon Otters with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 7-0.

"He had the changeup working," Oregon manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Muskingum hurler had 9 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.

Osei told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

This season, Osei has a 4-1 mark in 7 starts with a 1.56 ERA. He has given up 37 hits in 57.2 innings, struck out 49 and issued 17 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .185 batting average against him.
