Almost There: Connecticut On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 7-4 Win
|
Despite a great performance by Montreal starter Trevor Paul, the Connecticut Crosscutters defeated the Royales by the score of 7-4 at Royale Park. Paul came in in relief and pitched to 21 batters, but he couldn't prevent the Crosscutters from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Connecticut now leads the Round 1 3-1.
Connecticut used a clutch at-bat from Hi-sang Pae to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Crosscutters ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Connecticut manager Ray Reichenberg said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Royale Park in Montreal.
