The San Francisco Bay Breakers defeated the Denver Gold, 8-4, at Mountain Dew Field. San Francisco was led by former first round draft pick Marvin Sálchez, who went 2-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI. Denny Lamb got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Gold to 3 runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 5. Denver, with the loss, is still a hardy 6-2.

With San Francisco leading 5-3 in the top of the sixth, Sálchez hit a knuckle curve from Yuan-zhang Kan for a 2-run double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Bay Breakers ahead, 7-3.

"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Sálchez.
