Lake Monsters Win, 5-2, at Denver
|
The Minnesota Lake Monsters picked up a win at Mountain Dew Field, downing the Denver Gold, 5-2. On the mound for Minnesota was right-hander George Schmidt, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 6.2 innings, Schmidt surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Earning his 7th save of the year was Stanton LeBeau.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Héctor Torres? The Minnesota catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 3-1. For the game, Torres had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
