The home crowd had a good time watching the Saskatchewan Storm and Washington Black Bears get after it.

The Washington Black Bears overcame a good performance by Saskatchewan second baseman Marcos Sánchez to knock off Saskatchewan, 9-7, at Microsoft Field. Sánchez went 3-5 with a triple and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Jim Carrillo, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. J.J. Buchanan was credited with the save for Washington, his 7th of the season.

Jeff Franklin had a big 2-run double for the Black Bears in the bottom of the second inning. With Washington leading 6-4 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Bill Decker, who finished 5th in the WL in saves with 22 in 2119, and swatted a double to left. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Bears ahead, 8-4.

"What's not to like about a win?" said Franklin.

With the loss, Saskatchewan drops to 12-17.
