Toronto got a terrific performance from pitcher Kevin Mews, but it wasn't enough to beat the Connecticut Crosscutters. Connecticut won the Maple Leaf Park at Hanlan's Point contest, 4-2. Mews threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Carlos García, 13-5, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The Crosscutters improved their record to 88-70 with the win over Toronto.

Connecticut needed the clutch hitting of Myles Gómez to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Crosscutters on top, 4-2. For the game, Gómez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Gómez said his team "played with focus and determination."
